Rheinlander Hatchet

A traditional working hatchet, made as it should be.

Compact, well balanced and beautifully simple, the Traditional Hatchet is made for the everyday jobs that have always called for a small axe — preparing kindling, splitting smaller timber, trimming branches and working around camp.

Its classic proportions have changed little over generations of axe making. A hand-forged German steel head is paired with a shaped American hickory handle to create a tool that feels immediately natural in the hand.

Practical, dependable and made to be used, it is the kind of axe that only gets better with age.

Traditional German wide bit Rheinland pattern design. Open die drop forged from C50 high grade carbon steel. Edge hardened to approximately 54-56HRC (Rockwell). Hand ground and sharpened blade edge. Stamped with 'Helko' crown mark.

Hand crafted from Grade 'A" American hickory selected for grain orientation and density and finished with linseed oil.

Traditionally hung using a hardwood wedge and round steel ring wedge.

We provide a Lifetime warranty on the head of all our hatchets and axes to the original purchaser,

Please note that the warranty does not extend to the handle. Although we take great care in sourcing only the best hickory and ash timber. As wood is a natural material we are unable to warrant it's performance.

This item will be shipped direct to you from the Helko Werk factory in Germany.

It will be sent via FedEx using a "Delivered Duty Paid" service, which means that any customs fees and UK import VAT are all pre paid and you will not have to pay any more than you have already paid.

The FedEx service is an Age Verified Delivery Services and requires an adult signature.

In compliance with the UK Offensive Weapons Act 2019 we are unable to sell hatchets or axes to anyone in the UK under the age of 18.
